The CJH [Commission des jeux de hasard, the Belgian Gaming Commission] news item of 29 April 2026 concerns the EPIS certification of the systems of newsagents/betting, not online casinos. Age of 21 for all games except lotteries since 1 September 2024 (Law of 18 February 2024), confirmed by the Constitutional Court. Constitutional Court, judgment 165/2025 of 11 December 2025: the restrictions on online games are held to be discriminatory as long as online lotteries escape them, and the legislature has until 31 December 2026 to correct this; judgment of 16 April 2026 to the same effect (EPIS exemption and age of 21 for online lotteries). Legislative reform to be expected before the end of 2026. 762 illegal sites on the blacklist in May 2026. General ban on advertising for games of chance (AR [Royal Decree] of 27 February 2023, in force since 1 July 2023, incorporated into the law in 2024); according to the trade press, the Constitutional Court confirmed in April 2026 that the ban also applies online, to affiliation and to influencers (to be validated by a Belgian lawyer).

Illegal: sites without a Belgian licence are placed on the CJH blacklist and blocked by ISPs (DNS redirection). The Law of 7 May 1999 also provides for penalties for a player taking part in an unauthorised game (not re-verified today).
